French Riviera

Welcome to our wedding site! Here you will find the latest details about our wedding in Provence. Enjoy...
Vanessa & Joel

We're engaged!

and you're invited to the wedding.

Our wedding date and place: will be Sunday, September 12 in Provence - At the Abbaye de Sainte Croix, at Salon de Provence, craddle of The Traditional Provence.

Dude, where’s our wedding…?
Provence encompasses the vast, rambling countryside of far southeastern France. It is famous for its lavender fields, sunlight cherished by impressionists and aromatic landscapes (known as “garigue”) with notes of rosemary, thyme and dry scrubs. This picturesque region awaits you, from Avignon with its famous bridge and the medieval Palace of the Popes, to Nimes and its Roman monuments and picturesque gardens, to villages nestled in hilltops overlooking groves of olive trees, sunflower fields and rooftops.

Our wedding will take place at the Abbaye de Sainte Croix in Salon-de-Provence, which sits in the middle of a triangle by Aix en Provence, Arles and Avignon – the Abbaye is roughly 20 miles from each. Thirsty for more description? We invite you to check these two sites: http://www.avignon-et-provence.com/hotels/sainte-croix/index.html and http://www.hotels-provence.com/

Lodging:
Since the Abbaye’s monk-style rooms are all booked on the night of the wedding (Sunday, September 12), here below are hotel suggestions.

Words of advice
The Euro is attempting to sabotage our wedding plans, so let’s outsmart it by exchanging our dollars today!
If you plan on visiting Avignon’s walled city, make sure you have euros on you as banks have taken the liberty of refusing any foreign currency (seriously). But ATMs still work

What we recommend in Avignon:

La Banasterie. This charming bed and breakfast in the center of the walled city will make your stay in Avignon all the more special. Francoise and Jean-Michel will greet you in their chocolate-themed home.
In the mood for chocolate perhaps? Only a few cobblestone-streets away from La Banasterie you will find the Mallard Chocolaterie with its sugar-covered little gourmandises and provençal specialties.
When in Provence, do as the Provençal do… savor the bold, concentrated and distinctive provençal red wines as well as the region’s refreshing rosé wines. We have just the place for you if you find yourself in the walled city of Avignon: La Coupe D’Or, located at 3 place Jerusalem. Aside from regional wines, the store also offers an extensive selection of before and after-dinner drinks. We especially recommend the Liqueur de Noix (walnut) and Liqueur de Truffes (truffle).

What we recommend in the surrounding areas:

Chateau de Montcaud. Whether you go there for a night stay or just for dinner, you will not be disappointed. The Chateau lies in the middle of the Cotes du Rhones winegrowing region in Bagnols-sur-Ceze and offers a jogging trail, tennis court and swimming pool.
Mont Ventoux. For those of you who ever fantasized about spending a night in a secluded Middle Age village perched on a hilltop, Crillon-le-Brave is just for you.
Les Baux de Provence. A rocky spur emerging from the Alpilles. At its summit, the ruins of an old castle; further down, a lacing of steep and narrow streets running between old houses and Romanesque Chapels. All around a landscape of scrubland, olive trees and vines. And, at the foot of the ruined castle are two renowned sister restaurants/hotels called L’Oustau de Baumaniere and La Cabro D’Or.
